“Save the Oak” Workday and Wildflower Walk

Title: “Save the Oak” Workday and Wildflower Walk
Location: 13400 S. Halsted at Whistler Woods
Description: Come help save the ancient oak trees of Whistler Woods! Ride your bike down the Major Taylor Bicycle Trail to its endpoint at this Forest Preserve District of Cook County site, which lies along the Calumet River at Halsted Street (about 13400 south). Whistler Woods features some fascinating remnants of the area’s native woodland ecosystem. At this workday, we will likely cut brush, pull weeds and pick up litter. We will conclude the day with a short nature walk to view all the wonderful woodland wildflowers that are still hanging on. Wear sturdy shoes, long pants and sleeves and a hat. Gloves and tools will be provided. Please RSVP to Rebecca Blazer at 312-857-2757 ext. 17. Service learning hours available!
