Programs
Since our inception in 1975, Friends of the Parks has focused on providing programs for people in parks – both on advocating for more family and individual Chicago Park District-sponsored programs in all Chicago parks, and to provide assistance to neighborhood parks through helping to establish local park advisory councils, coordinate volunteer activities in parks, and seeing the children get the most out of our parks.
Our programs reach out to all citizens of Chicago and Cook County by employing a dedicated and remarkable staff that facilitates various activities in our parks. Whether it is 4,000 people cleaning parks on Earth Day, providing Seed Grants to emerging advisory councils, or inspiring the next generation of stewards through environmental education for Chicago Public School children, Friends of the Parks is truly Chicago’s Best Friend!
