2009 Lakefront Bus Tours
This spring and summer Friends of the Parks and the Illinois State Geological Survey will host three lakefront bus tours.
Dr. Michael Chrzastowski, Coastal Geologist, will lead the tours to discuss the history of the lakefront park development.
You will learn how Chicago’s lakefront park system, consisting now of 26 miles of public parks, was totally engineered over the last 140 years. Also discussed will be the Last 4 Miles: A Plan to Complete Chicago’s Lakefront.
The bus tour will make several stops to highlight significant park features and landscapes. The lakefront bus tours are part of Friends of the Parks and the Illinois State Geological Survey’s Centennial Celebration of the Burnham Plan of Chicago.
Cost: $25 and includes coffee and rolls.
To reserve a seat for any of the three lakefront bus tours, please call Angela Cisneros at 312-857-2757 x10 or email at cisnerosa@fotp.org.
